I read that Brussel sprouts are a biennial. Does this mean that they will come back every other year or that they will only produce every other year? Also can I cut the huge leaves off??? any advice is greatly appreciated!

I am growing brussel sprouts for the first time. The plant is big now and getting sprouts. I know that you are suppose to pick the lower leaves off, but are you suppose to take all the leaves off and just leave the stem with the sprouts on them?

growing brussel sprouts and the leafs are really bad, is it ok to cut the leafs at the top of the stem off?
